Meet the Maker

Hello fellow magical being! I'm Shelby, but most people know me as Schlebbzz, and I'm the person behind The Entangled Fae. I'm 30 years old, queer, late diagnosed Audhd, and am also hypermobile. My pronouns are she/hers, but they/them is also okay.

I am in love with all things magical and whimsical. I have been drawn to faeries and have been calling myself a faerie since I was a kid. I am passionate about creating items that help inspire others tap into their inner magic and exist authentically while wearing them.

I learned basic crochet stitches from my mom when I was a kid, but didn't start avidly crocheting until 2016. Crochet was the first artisic medium that really clicked for me and it has been incredibly empowering for me to express myself through this art form.

I grew up in poverty and worked in mental health for a decade. I was never able to be financially stable despite having a degree and even working multiple jobs at times. I started The Entangled Fae in 2020 (while still working my other job) to make some extra money during the pandemic. I never expected it to grow as big as it has.

I also never intended to be a crochet pattern designer, but I am so happy enough people encouraged me to try it out after I started sharing my designs because it's been such a fun journey. I have found so much fulfillment in learning to create accessible patterns.

Because of everyone's continued support, in January 2024 The Entangled Fae became my full time job! This has been the only time in my life I've been financially stable and have been able to afford health care and mental health care. It is also the first time in my life I've had a job that has been sustainable for me. I cannot thank you all enough for finding value in me and my art, and for eveything that you do to support me. You all have truly changed my life for the better and I will be forever grateful for that.

Besides crocheting, I'm also very involved in flow arts/prop spinning. My main prop is leviwand, which I've been practicing for 11 years. During the warm season, I travel to, and even work/teach at some, flow festivals, music festivals, and anime conventions. I've also been dabbling in crochet cosplays recently and have really enjoyed making them so far.

Thank you so much for being here and for supporting my work! 🩷
